Saturday May 10,
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. | Philippians 1:8-11
Wise Guys
I remember preaching a sermon a few years back inspired by another pastor. If memory serves, the three points consisted of the following: 1) In light of my past experience; 2) in light of my present circumstance; 3) in light of my future hopes and dreams...what is the wise thing to do? I was permanently influenced by the preparation of that sermon. If we can assume that by the fact you are reading this text today you are actively involved in “being transformed by the renewing of your mind,” and further, that as the word of God washes over you, you are able to see more clearly your life from God’s perspective. And being armed, ever more increasingly with Christ’s perspective, you are then empowered to ask these three relevant questions concerning every aspect of your life. So, why not give it a try as you contemplate your next decision. In light of your past experience, in light of your present circumstance, and in light of your future hopes and dreams, what is the wise thing to do? May you be immersed in the blessings of God as the Good Shepherd leads you to your decision. Shalom!
